Many of us have driven round and round a crowded car park desperately looking for a single space to park in before the other vehicles do.
Often it can be a tough and frustrating competition with eagle-eyed and fast drivers commonly coming out on top.
One woman though was so determined to have a particular space in a busy car park in Flushing, New York, she ran into it as another couple attempted to park there.
You can watch dashcam footage of the incident here:
Nicholas Chew’s day was going rather well on March 10 as he headed out to enjoy some dim sum when he had a bizarre row with a woman who refused to move from a car parking spot.
Footage filmed on Chew’s vehicle’s dashcam shows the young woman running over to the empty space just as he starts driving into it.
Despite not being in a car, the anonymous woman then refuses to move insisting her father had been waiting nearby for the spot in a white Jeep Compass.
As seen in the video, the Jeep is nowhere to be seen.
With the woman declining to move, pointing to where the Jeep was supposedly waiting, Chew begins honking his horn hoping she will eventually leave.
During the footage, he can be heard saying:
You’re not even in a car woman. Are you serious, get the f*ck out. Where? I don’t see no car.
You ran into the spot, are you serious? How can you stand in that spot right now? You have no car here.
This is a car parking spot, not a woman parking spot. I can stay here all day. I have time.
At this point the woman’s mother comes over to join her, standing by her side in the spot during the strange stand-off.
When the Jeep finally made an appearance, Chew described how it then also began trying to intimidate him.
Sharing the video to YouTube, Chew wrote:
Their car was a white Jeep Compass. Tell me if you see it anywhere at all in the beginning of the video rightfully waiting for that spot – you don’t because the car is at the next aisle of the lot.
She and her mom then had the audacity to call me unreasonable. It was already about halfway through this video when their car finally made it to the spot and tried to come up real close to my car as if it was going to intimidate me to leave.
I’m sure we’ve all had our share of standing in spots hoping to save it for someone, but if another car gets there first, we don’t act like little entitled children like these two here.
With cars queuing up behind him, luckily for Chew another woman came over offering up the spot she was leaving, noticing the commotion which was being caused.
Chew accurately describes this woman as ‘the real MVP’:
Just to clarify, I left because the woman who came at the end offered to give the woman her spot because she saw that there were a lot of poor souls stuck behind us because of this situation (there’s no space to go around).
I knew that they, being the idiots that they are, would not leave this spot. So I sucked it up and decided to take the high road and take the woman’s spot and go enjoy my dim sum while they remain the miserable f*cks that they probably are.
If there wasn’t a giant line of innocent bystander cars stuck because of us, I definitely would not have moved.
And the lady who ended up giving me her spot to end this, you the real MVP, thank you.
Naturally the video went viral receiving over 756,000 views on YouTube at time of writing (August 31).
Hopefully that makes up for the frustration Chew went through!
