A woman in Worcester claims she bought an unclaimed £33 million Lotto ticket everyone is look for, but put it in the washing machine. Doh!
The winning numbers are still visible, but the date and barcode have been completely scrubbed off, she claims, as it was still in a pair of jeans when they went in the wash. Gutted doesn’t even cut it…
David Cheskin/PAAccording to The Times, the unnamed woman rushed into her local newsagent, Ambleside News, with her tattered ticket yesterday, but Camelot have now told her she has to send the ticket back to them so they can analyse them.
They earlier claimed that the unclaimed ticket worth a staggering £33,035,323 was bought in Worcester, and urged people to double check if they had the winning numbers of: 26, 27, 46, 47, 52 and 58.
That particular Lotto draw on January 9 saw the biggest ever jackpot of over £66 million and two ticket-holders matched the numbers to share the massive prize.
Andrew Fox/The TelegraphIt’s still possible that she could claim the winnings, even with a half destroyed ticket if she can tell Lotto organisers exactly where and when she purchased the tickets, what her numbers were and how many lines she put on.
Speaking to The Telegraph, the woman – who wished to remain anonymous – said:
I’ve been a nervous wreck. I haven’t slept all night. Since I found it in my jeans pocket, my daughter and I have been drying it out with the hairdryer. You can see 2016 but not the date. This is one of only two shops I buy my tickets, and I remember coming in here the day, or the day before [the draw], because I had to buy something else.
