A an unnamed 20-year-old woman in Brazil was left in a worrying state of distress after seeing the newly released Annabelle: Creation.

The incident occurred when she visited a cinema in Teresina, in North Brazil for a late night screening of the horror film.

According to the Daily Mail, social networking sites claimed she began acting strangely during the film’s scariest moment.

She reportedly became hysterical, punching herself in the face as she and her friends left the showing. She was recorded on a camera phone outside of the cinema, lying on the floor, screaming and coughing uncontrollably.

Her friends can be seen trying to desperately to calm the frightened girl down once she started punching herself in the face, by the time emergency services came they were forced to use a wheelchair to remove her from the premises.

According to the Mail, a witness said that the behaviour started:

When the film ended, we went to pay the car park and she started hitting herself with punches to her own head, and threw herself on the floor.

Other people in the shopping centre got together to try to control her, I became really scared.

Here is the disturbing incident:

Annabelle: Creation is part of The Conjuring franchise which started back in 2013. The latest instalment tells the tale of a a dollmaker and his wife, who take in a nun and several girls from an orphanage. However they soon become targets of the dollmaker’s ‘possessed’ toy, Annabelle.

Speaking to Brazil’s UOL website, a member of staff said that:

We haven’t managed to find out exactly what happened or what caused this behaviour.

What we know is that she was really very nervous and couldn’t herself explain what had happened.
