A woman who spoke out after a Tinder user told her to bleach her skin has revealed that she’s now had death threats as a result of her actions.

Takara Allen published the racist message to her Facebook page last week and received overwhelming support from social media users, reports The Mirror.

The 22-year-old from Adelaide said she was ‘devastated’ by the post and hit back with a lengthy post about why it’s not appropriate.

The original message, which says it came from a man called ‘Nikolas’ read:

The make up artist also revealed she’s had to deal with these comments all her life:

I’ve grown up hearing: “You’d be prettier if you were lighter,” and “You’re pretty for a black girl,” as if black women are just generally unattractive.

She added:

I’ve been hearing this crap ever since I moved to Australia and I can guarantee you that women who are even darker than I am hear it even more.

If you have to say ‘not trying to be offensive/racist/mean’ before you say something, DON’T SAY IT.

Although the vast majority of people have been supportive, Takara revealed that she has also been receiving both racist messages and even death threats.

However, she says she doesn’t regret speaking out in the slightest:

I hope at the very least I have helped at least a few other people gain the confidence to stand up for themselves.

She definitely has, although it’s fucking unbelievable that in 2016 some people still insist on judging people on the colour of their skin.
