It’s safe to say that one teenager took things way too far after consuming a crazy amount of alcohol when she pulled out a claw hammer and smashed up a passer-by’s car.

Lauren Weaver, 18, had downed an incredible 22 bottles of lager then armed herself with the weapon following a minor dispute between gangs in Workington and attacked the windscreen of a passing vehicle last August.

And, quite understandably, the four innocent strangers in the car were pretty terrified by the whole ordeal.

It emerged in court that Weaver had something of a temper problem, given that she had previous convictions for unprovoked attacks on other women.

On Friday, Judge Paul Batty QC described the “lawlessness” of the attack as “ludicrous”, adding that Weaver seemed to “revel” in instilling fear in her victims.

Weaver initially denied any involvement with the incident or that she was part of any local gang, but ultimately admitted affray and was sentenced to 16 months’ youth detention.

The attack was part of an increase in street violence in Cumbria, with this investigation finding the rise in trouble is linked to two local gangs, known as ‘Mandem’ and ‘Moorclose’ – sort of like the Bloods and the Crips, but much shitter.

Last week Cumbria Police announced 43 arrests so far, and recovered a haul of weapons including three machetes, baseball bats, golf clubs, cricket bats, an axe and a knuckle duster. An impressive haul, to say the least!
