A teenager who gained internet notoriety after posting several disturbing images in an attempt to look like her idol Angelina Jolie has admitted it was all a hoax.

19-year-old Sahar Tabar had many people worried and directing criticism at her after she posted pictures of herself claiming she had ’50 plastic surgeries’ to look like the Oscar-winning actress – yet she looked more like a zombie bride than she did Brad Pitt’s ex-wife.

Turns out it was a rouse as she finally admitted she pulled off the stunt just to ‘amuse’ herself.

Speaking to Sputnik, Tahar said:

Now I can see that I have something in common with (Angelina Jolie), but I amuse myself, and to look like someone is not my goal.

Over time I post a photo, I make my face more fun and funny, it is a form of self-expression, a kind of art.

My fans know that this is not my real face.

The teenager from Tehran, Iran, admitted the corpse-like pictures she posted were Photoshopped, while she did admit to having numerous plastic surgeries it wasn’t anywhere near the ludicrous number she originally claimed.

She also admitted to lying to her followers about extreme dieting to get her body weight down to 40kg, she in fact only dropped about 5-7kg.

Tabar revealed she had work done on her:

… nose, enlarged mouth and liposuction.

I see nothing wrong with the operations: many people in the world undergo this kind of treatment. Here, in Tehran, one operation costs 10 million Iranian rials (£212.30).

She also revealed how her parents did not approve of her cosmetic change, they thought plastic surgery was ‘not the norm’, however she claims they ‘support me completely’ now which ‘is the most important thing’.

When asked about the backlash she received about the original posts, and the reveal that it was all a sham, she explained:

For me the most important thing in life is the approval of my family and God. This approval is, that’s enough for me. The opinion of other people does not bother me at all. I release negative opinions.

When 19-year-old Tabar first posted the pictures on Instagram people were quick to mock her. One commentor on Instagram wrote:

Her: Doc make me look like an 8 month old corpse.

Doc: Say no more.

However some were quick to catch on to Tabar’s attention-seeking antics, Reddit user Zaza9000 wrote:

I do believe she got plastic surgery, but it’s more or less makeup and extremely exaggerating her features that she got done.

I’ve yet to figure out why other than just internet attention and fame. I kinda took it for face value, something you should never do and I ran with it.

While we’re glad – and somewhat relieved – this isn’t Tabar’s real look, we’ve got to say the prank itself was in very bad taste, people were genuinely worried for her well being. I myself wasted a good 45 minutes last Friday writing an article which held plastic surgeons to account – and now the feature is practically null-and-void.

I could’ve been doing something much more productive in the office at that time – like popping bubble wrap. I wonder if young Tabar knows the story about The Boy Who Cried Wolf?
