A woman who farted noisily in a shop has been jailed after threatening to ‘gut’ a man who complained about it.

37-year-old Shanetta Yvette Wilson audibly broke wind while queuing in the checkout line at a Dollar General corner shop in Dania Beach, Florida. The fart and the resulting incident took place on Sunday, November 25.

A fellow customer, by the name of John Walker, reportedly did not take kindly to her passing gas so loudly in public and complained about it. Wilson then proceeded to pull out a knife on Walker, threatening to ‘gut’ him.

Following the incident, Wilson was arrested and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon without the intent to kill. She was taken to the Paul Rein Detention Facility in Pompano Beach where her bail was set at $2,500.

According to the Miami Herald, the affidavit has explained how the altercation between Walker and Wilson was ‘in reference to the defendant farting loudly’.

After pulling a ‘lock back knife’ from her purse, Wilson reportedly ‘opened the knife and told the victim she was going to ‘gut’ him’.

She reportedly held the knife in her right hand during the altercation, motioning in a manner which appeared as though she was intending to stab Walker.

The affidavit spoke of how Walker had been ‘in fear that he was going to be stabbed by the defendant’.

This isn’t the first time a fart has led to terror in Florida. In 2013, a woman reportedly threw a kitchen knife at her boyfriend after he farted in her face.

As reported by The Huffington Post, 37-year-old Deborah Ann Burns had been watching TV with her boyfriend on the night in question.

When he walked over to the kitchen, Burns believed her boyfriend deliberately broke wind in the direction of her face. Officers from the Collier County Sheriff’s Office found Burns’ boyfriend with cuts to both his abdomen and left arm.

Burns informed officers her boyfriend became agitated after she confronted him about passing cause, triggering the altercation. Burns was arrested and charged with aggravated battery.

Of course, it’s not just Florida where fart-related police incidents occur. Another incident, this time in Michigan, led to police being called to a home by a 911 caller who suspected domestic violence at the residence.

However, it was discovered the commotion the caller had heard was in fact just a woman screaming at her boyfriend to stop farting. The tongue-in-cheek police report revealed the officers had ‘cleared the scene expeditiously’.

As reported by The Daily Wire, Clawson Police Chief, Harry Anderson said:

The female that was inside stated that her boyfriend had continued to pass gas, and she was yelling at him to stop.

It’s quite often that we respond to things that have a funny twist to them — and this was definitely one for the books.

It’s currently unclear whether or not Wilson currently has legal representation.
