Three women were unable to board their plane after undergoing transformative plastic surgery that left them unrecognisable.

The three unidentified women were photographed waiting at an airport in South Korea, unable to board their plane due to passport control failing to verify their identities through the swelling and the hospital-issued facemasks.

The trio, who are believed to be from China, looked too different from their passport photos to fly home and were forced to await verification.

The photograph was taken during China’s National Day holiday – which lasts eight days – after the three women allegedly took advantage of South Korea’s ‘Golden Week’, travelling to neighbouring South Korea to undergo plastic surgery.

The picture was said to be posted by Jian Huahua, a Chinese news anchor, on her social media on October 8, but seems to have be removed by Ms Jian from her account.

The Beijing Things Beijingers Don’t Know account managed to re-post the picture on Weibo, the Chinese equivalent to Twitter, claiming the women were among throngs of Chinese people who flocked to South Korea to get surgery for cheap during so-called Golden Week.

South Korea has become a top plastic surgery destination for Chinese women in the past decade and a half.

Chinese tourists make dedicated trips to South Korea under the ‘Medical Tourists’ visa to make themselves look more westernised.

In China, women with double eyelids, wider eyes and a higher nose bridge are considered beautiful.

According to Ctrip, one of China’s largest travel service providers, more than 500,000 Chinese tourists made overseas medical trips in 2016.

Among them, 99,000 were said to have gone to South Korea, which is said to constitute a third of the inbound medical tourists South Korea received worldwide.

It’s currently unclear when and if the women were allowed to return to China, and while they have every right to look anyway that makes them happy, it does beg the question, at what price?

Human Ken Doll Rodrigo Alves recently made headlines when he was detained in Dubai after the country’s passport control office couldn’t confirm his identity due to an unrecognisable picture.

Alves shot to fame after spending over £400k on plastic surgery to look like Ken, the boyfriend of Barbie.

He’s never been one to shy away regarding the subject of his plastic surgery, however because his face has drastically altered, officials in Dubai had no choice but to detain him.

The 34-year-old’s face has changed so much, it no longer resembles the original photo, which lead to border control delaying his return to the United Kingdom.

Despite living a life of luxury, the jet-setter was faced with trouble when he tried to enter the United Arab Emirates to attend the launch of a new hotel.

Alves was made to wait three hours before he was allowed entry into the country.

Prior to be being detained the Human Ken Doll revealed he was considering gender reassignment to become a woman – or in his words a ‘Barbie doll’.
