Wonder Woman Leaps Into World War Action In Newest Trailer

The newest trailer for DC’s champion of truth and justice Wonder Woman has arrived and it looks surprisingly average.

The movie, directed by Patty Jenkins, stars Gal Gadot as the titular Wonder Woman an Amazonian warrior from Themyscira who after discovering a crashed pilot named Steve Trevor (Chris Pine) and decides to do her part to stop The Great War.

Now before accusations of Marvel fan boy-ism begin I should say that the trailer doesn’t look bad it just reminds me of another distinctly average film, Captain America: The First Avenger (Sorry Disney your cheque bounced).

That’s not to say it looks a total mess I like that DC have turned up the brightness both on screen and in the script, the little jokey moments were probably the most memorable part of the whole teaser.

The cast also look great, Miss Gadot exudes the charisma and power you need to portray an icon like Wonder Woman and Pine is an old pro at the ‘reluctant soldier’ archetype.

The issue is that snarky comments aside it looks very bland, plus as it’s a prequel there are no real stakes to the film. We know that Wonder Woman saves the world because the planet still existed in BvS.

Another problem is that by this point I just don’t trust Warner Bros. anymore, Suicide Squad looked like great frantic fun and ended up a mess of a movie so I have no faith in a movie that just looks ‘meh’.

I pray I’m wrong about Wonder Woman I just don’t think I am.

If you’re less pessimistic than me you’ll be delighted to know that Wonder Woman is is scheduled to be released on June 2, 2017.
