A criminal whose mugshot had all the girls swooning has been released from jail – and now he’s a model.
Jeremy Meeks gained worldwide fame in 2014 after the Stockton Police Department posted a photo of his mugshot on their Facebook page, gaining more than 80,000 likes and landing him the nickname ‘Hot Mugshot Guy’.
In 2015, Meeks was sentenced to over two years in prison for illegal weapon possession, but just before going behind bars he signed a modeling contract with White Cross Management, Time reports.
And now that the ‘hot convict’ is out, he can start his modelling career.
The agency’s owner, Jim Jordan, said he signed Meeks to give him a second chance (and also probably because he’s got great cheekbones).
He said:
When I first saw Jeremy’s picture, the first thing that came to my mind was, ‘I needed to help this guy.’
After speaking with his wife and meeting his family, I got a real sense of who Jeremy was as a husband and father, not to mention how beautiful he is inside and out.
We are looking forward to Jeremy’s future. I do not think it will affect Jeremy’s career due to the overwhelming response he has received from clients and fans around the world.
And he’s definitely right about the world-wide fame. Since Meek’s mugshot was released, he had women offer to pay his bail, and now has more than 40,000 followers on Facebook.
Although the specifics of what he’ll be doing isn’t clear, Jordan told ABC that Meeks had potential endorsement deals with ‘modeling agencies around the world,’ and ‘reality-show interests.’
Maybe next time we see ‘hot mugshot guy’ he’ll be in Vogue…
