As a lifelong vegetarian I have never had the pleasure of tasting pigs in blankets, something people repeatedly tell me is the best part of Christmas dinner.
Having actually previously been voted as being the yummiest part of Christmas dinners, we here at UNILAD have found the perfect job for all of you pigs in blankets fans.
And I am sure there are thousands and thousands of you out there ready to apply!
The Oast House in Manchester, a popular rustic-style pub, is currently advertising for a ‘Pigs in Blankets Taste Tester’ who will be paid an incredible £500 to try all of their Christmas nibbles which also includes Christmas pudding sausage rolls, stuffing balls and Brussels sprouts coated in polenta with a hot drizzle sauce.
Definitely the best temporary job ever advertised – for anyone who eats meat – it’s a once in a lifetime opportunity for any food fan.
Crowned the ‘Official Pigs in Blankets Tester’, as well as getting paid £500 for your time at a tasting session, you can also bring a friend with you to try the tasty treats.
That is if you fancy sharing of course…
Mark York, Development Chef at The Oast House, was pretty excited to announce the opportunity commenting:
Pigs in blankets are the talk of the town this Christmas and are undoubtedly the trending food item of the season. That said, the pressure is on to ensure we’re serving up the best pigs in blankets and Christmas nibbles in the city.
We’re wanting to play around with ingredients and flavours – and in order to pin down the perfect recipes, we need someone to come in and taste test to ensure our guests have the best Christmas nibbles possible! We’re looking for a local festive foodie to visit The Oast House and give the team and I some honest feedback, face-to-face.
If you fancy applying for the role you can do so on the Airtasker website.
After registering either on the website itself of their app, all you have to do is share a story of your funniest Christmas moment to date to win the opportunity.
Chef Mark and his team will then judge their favourite response welcoming the successful applicant to eat pigs in blankets until they burst.
In the advert, Mark writes:
Are you a self-confessed Christmas Dinner connoisseur? Do you love pigs in blankets? Do you love the trimmings as much as the turkey? If yes, then I’ve got the ideal task for you!
We’re searching for one Mancunian resident to attend the ultimate Christmas taste-test for this year’s star of the show – pigs in blankets – and give us some honest feedback to help us perfect our Christmas nibbles menu.
One lucky candidate will be chosen to taste the best of Christmas and attend an exclusive session at The Oast House.
Here, you’ll be served a range of pigs in blankets – each portion paired with a twist – throwing up some interesting flavour combinations. We’re interested to hear if traditional pigs in blankets suffice, or whether we can open your mind (and taste buds) to some tasty new twists on the festive classic?… Oh, and did we mention you’ll also be paid £500 for YOUR time?
Unsuccessful applicants will be able to enjoy The Oast House’s Christmas treats from December 1.
I wish all of you the best with your application. May the best foodie win!
