Carmarthen Stars/FacebookA 24-year-old footballer has been found dead after posting a heartbreaking message to Facebook.
Brendon Holder, who played for Carmarthen Stars, was found in his home in west Wales on Saturday (August 4).
The young man had shared an emotional post on Facebook just hours before his death.
The football player’s death is not being treated as suspicious.
According to Wales Online, a spokeswoman for Dyfed-Powys Police said:
The force was made aware of the sudden death of a 24-year-old man at an address in Thomas Street, Pembroke, during the early hours of Saturday, August 4.
Next of kin and HM Coroner have been informed, and the death is not being treated as suspicious.
Brendon changed his Facebook profile picture to a photograph of his mother and himself as a baby on the day he died.
Just minutes earlier, he had posted a heartbreaking post to his page.
The post read:
Sorry for anyone I hurt please don’t think I’m selfish I wasn’t the best of sons and friend I am sorry see you all soon .. can’t wait to see you mum sorry for who I hurt bye guys.
Brendon was clearly a well-loved man, and tributes to the 24-year-old have been rolling in.
Jamie, Brendon’s brother, posted in honour of his sibling.
He wrote that Brendon was a dedicated and loving brother who was brave and adventurous.
Jamie added:
Brendon touched the lives of many and he will be dearly missed by everyone.
Another person wrote:
If only you knew how many people cared and loved you. I’m going to miss that cheeky smile every day.
A third said that the young man dazzled people with his looks, his skills and more importantly his personality.
Devastated friends and family also commented on Brendon’s post, with one writing:
Just don’t know what to say or thinking my boy…. You were an amazing step son, friend, football partner…. We used to laugh cause we knew know [sic] on could f**k with us on our day….
The last game we played together you got the ball out to me wide at the half way line and I ran all the way and scored…..
Aaaah my hearts broken…miss you so much already and ill get my father’s day present wen [sic] I see you… I love you brendon
Carmarthen Stars, Brendon’s football team, have also expressed their sorrow at the player’s death. The club cancelled two of their football games in response to the sad news.
They posted a picture of the man in action to Facebook, writing:
Devastated to lose such a really nice guy and a talented player who scored a number of goals for the club and helped the seconds with promotion!!
Both firsts and seconds games were called off today !! Thoughts are with all those who are close to him !! You will be missed by all at the club Brendon Holder RIP!!
