A young girl who was held as a slave by ISIS militants reportedly made a daring escape, after slipping sleeping pills into her captors’ tea.

The 12-year-old girl was a member of the Kurdish Yazidi community and was being held captive along with her 17-year-old aunt.

But allegedly she managed to pull off an incredible escape by drugging her captors, who then fell into a deep sleep.

They then fled to the safety of a nearby Kurdish-held territory.

This story has since been confirmed by Vian Dakhil – the only Yazidi member of the Iraqi government.

She added that the two girls were held in captivity at a house in Tel Afar, near the city of Mosul in Syria for almost four months before they attempted to escape.

They originally got hold of the pills after claiming that they had trouble sleeping.

The girl has since been reunited with her mother and sister, but two of her other siblings are still being held by militants elsewhere.

The Yazidi group have been persecuted by ISIS since 2014 when fighters killed hundreds at their homeland of Mount Sinjar.

The UN believes that ISIS are currently holding around 3,500 Yazidi women and children as slaves in these horrific conditions.
