Since the giant earthquake wreaked havoc on New Zealand at the weekend, some strange discoveries have been made.
‘Alien’ like rock structures have been found looming out of the sea, the Daily Star reports.
The disaster, which reached a tremendous 7.8 on the Richter scale, unearthed these structures, which have stood way down, deep in the ocean before the quake.
Facebook/ Amanda RedmondSince the catastrophic event, these odd, pebbly stones, with algae and seaweed dangling from them, are now visible at ground level.
This strange phenomenon is puzzling scientists, with no clues offered as to why this might have happened.
One of the scientists, Dr. Joshu Mountjoy said: “I’ve never seen it before during an earthquake and it’s the first time we’ve seen something like this.
“It will take a while before this becomes normal again.”

Experts have now reported that the seabed has risen two-metres since the tremor, taking with it a whole array of strange-looking sea creatures.
