A married couple had been trying for a baby for four years, with no success and were puzzled as to where they were going wrong.
After consulting doctors, the concerned couple, from Bijie city, China, found out why they’d been having difficulties conceiving: they’d mistakenly been having anal sex for the entirety of their relationship.
Discussing their medical history with obstetrician Liu Hongmei, the 26-year-old husband and 24-year-old wife said they’d been having sex regularly and were under pressure from their families to produce a baby.
Intercourse was unusually painful for the wife, leading Dr Liu to originally believe she was suffering from some sort of gynaecological disease.
However, on further inspection, it was revealed the wife had never actually had vaginal sex. The couple had been exclusively having anal intercourse throughout their entire marriage.
According to Metro, Dr Hongmei, who found she could ‘fit three fingers inside’ the wife’s anus, said:
Four years of marriage and neither the husband nor wife knew how to get pregnant. Couples so lacking in general knowledge are very rare.
But it is not uncommon for people to lack or have misconceptions regarding sexual knowledge.
Dr Liu gave them both a much needed sex ed handbook, and instructed them on ‘guidelines’ before sending them back to their confused love nest.
Happily, this much needed dose of sex education appeared to work a treat, and the young couple are now expecting their first child.
Deeply grateful for the good doctor’s intervention, the couple sent her a gift of 100 eggs and a live hen.
Meanwhile, people on social media are amazed and confused as to how it took the couple four years to work out where they were going wrong – literally.
One person advised:
This is why sex education is so important. Stay in school kids!!
Another sympathised:
What a pain in the ass.
According to CNN, many schools in China don’t teach formal sex education classes, leaving almost 22 per cent of teenagers more or less clueless about sex.
Back in 2017, Jing Jun, sociology professor at Beijing’s Tsinghua University, told CNN:
Sex education faces great challenges in China,
At Tsinghua, students take sex education classes where they learn basic knowledge about sex safety, condom use, etc. As far as I know, this is the first time most of my students have ever taken such a class.
However, as of March 2018, the Chinese government authorised the first batch of sex educators for middle-school children; covering topics such as sexually transmitted diseases, sexuality and consent, as well as common questions about sex.
Fang Gang, professor of psychology at Beijing Forestry University, added:
Empowerment sexuality education aims to help teenagers make their own choice about sex, which is a key part of a person’s personal growth. It’s actually an education of life,
It’s not only about the sexual knowledge. We are teaching values.
Congratulations, and please never embarrass this child with tales of their unusual conception!
