Flat Earthers Disprove Themselves With Own Experiment In New Netflix Documentary

Theories are best proven when you provide much substantial evidence, as well as a body of facts to back up your claims.

Yet the worst thing you can do, when your own experiment proves you wrong, is to ‘flat out’ refuse to accept the evidence staring you in the face.

It takes an intensely determined person to distance themselves from their own critical faculties, especially to the extent of denying what their own findings suggest.

But somehow, in a new documentary, one group of flat-Earthers have managed to do just this. A dubious achievement if ever there was one.

Behind The Curve is a documentary which follows individuals who wholeheartedly believe the Earth is flat, and is simply a ‘fact’ being suppressed as part of a world conspiracy.

In one awkward yet satisfying scene, a couple of Flat Earthers proved the Earth’s rotation using a $20,000 laser gyroscope, leading Flat Earth YouTube channel host Bob Knodel to nervously murmur, ‘interesting, interesting…’ Oops.

After the experiment fails to squeeze out the results they longed for, Bob says:

What we found is, when we turned on that gyroscope, we found that we were picking up a drift. A 15 degree per hour drift.

Now, obviously we were taken aback by that – ‘Wow, that’s kind of a problem.’ We obviously were not willing to accept that, and so we started looking for ways to disprove it was actually registering the motion of the Earth.

And for someone so suspicious about suppressed information, it didn’t appear Bob wanted to shout the findings of the pricey experiment from his no doubt flat rooftop.

Addressing another Flat Earther, Bob cautioned:

We don’t want to blow this, you know? When you’ve got $20,000 in this freaking gyro. If we dumped what we found right now, it would be bad. It would be bad.

What I just told you was confidential.

The ‘failed’ experiment has sparked some horror – as well as amusement – among the more scientifically minded on Twitter, with one person remarking:

So I watched the flat earth documentary – Behind the Curve – Every experiment they did proved a globe earth…yet they rejected it.

I’m not sure entirely what you get out of doggedly following a theory which the logical part of your brain has just revealed to be untrue. But each to their own I guess.

People, just know when to admit you’re wrong and maybe dig out your school science textbooks for another look…
