Believers, assemble! NASA has found something that could prove the existence of extraterrestrial life.

The Hubble telescope has discovered an ocean on Europa, one of Jupiter’s 67 enigmatic moons.

A large body of water – such as this one – is essential to the survival of life. For this reason, Europa is widely thought to be the universe’s best chance at harbouring an alien life form.

The planet-hunting telescope, which was responsible for finding distant galaxies that proved the universe is expanding, has struck again much to the joy of alien hunters everywhere.

Scientists and UFO fanatics await with baited breath, as NASA plan to broadcast their official announcement on 26 September at 6pm.

The panel will include Paul Hertz, director of the Astrophysics Division at NASA HQ in Washington and Jennifer Wiseman, senior Hubble project scientist, among other astronomers and prefessors.

An official NASA spokesperson said:

Astronomers will present results from a unique Europa observing campaign that resulted in surprising evidence of activity that may be related to the presence of a subsurface ocean on Europa.

The ocean is thought to be ten times as deep as Earth’s and may contains three times the volume of all our planet’s liquid water.

Fingers crossed the aliens can swim!
