Famous physicist Neil deGrasse Tyson has shut down all Flat Earth theorists with one simple point.
In a video posted on comedian Chuck Nice’s StarTalk YouTube channel, deGrasse Tyson took on the big questions regarding the Flat Earth theory.
Members of the so-called ‘Flat Earth Society’ claim the Earth is actually flat and that’s mostly down to the fact when walking around it feels flat, so they deem all evidence incorrect.
Yet it’s evidence such as satellite photos of Earth – which clearly show it as being spherical – and said there’s a ’round Earth conspiracy’ orchestrated by the likes of NASA and other government agencies.
Shutting down theorists, deGrasse Tyson said:
For me, the fact that there’s a rise of flat-earthers is evidence of two things. One, we live in a country that protects free speech. And, two, we live in a country with a failed educational system.
Our system needs to train you not only what to know but how to think about information and knowledge and evidence. If we don’t have that kind of training, you’d run around believing anything.
It wasn’t until Francis Bacon, Galileo, and the 1600s that if you’re going to say something, and what you think you are saying is true, no matter how obvious you think it is, then you need to test it. There could be something fooling you in one way or another.

deGrasse Tyson has previously addressed the issue and been the subject of a diss-track by well-known theorist and rapper B.o.B.
B.o.B has gained a sort of notoriety with his tweets about the Flat Earth theory and he has even set up a crowd funding campaign to send satellites and space balloons into the atmosphere to ‘prove’ the Earth is flat.
The rapper claimed the New York City skyline should not be visible from 60 miles away at Harriman State Park’s Bear Mountain.
deGrasse Tyson responded by saying the Earth’s curve does indeed block around 150 feet of the Manhattan skyline from this point, however most of the buildings are ‘waaay taller’ than that.
B.o.B. then released a three-and-a-half minute rap aimed at deGrasse Tyson called ‘Flatline’ which features samples of the physicist talking.
