Study Reveals Youngest Sibling Is The Funniest

In news that will no doubt delight my little sister, a new study has suggested that younger siblings are funnier, more relaxed and more favoured by your parents.

This isn’t some tin pot theory from someone with a YouTube channel either, this research was carried out by YouGov so I can’t dismiss it as younger sibling propaganda.

The study asked how siblings, using their own perceptions of their sense of humour, responsibility, organisational and self-confidence ranked compared to their brother or sisters.

They discovered that the youngest child tends to be more easy-going, while the oldest sibling feels a greater sense of responsibility.

It’s not all bad though, while they’re not as funny as their younger siblings older brothers and sisters tend to be more successful and more family-orientated.

Interestingly, it seems that the personality trait divide is even stronger when there’s more than one child between the oldest and youngest in the family.

The results show:

The most significant difference is in feeling the burden of responsibility – most (54 per cent) of first borns say they are more responsible than their siblings, compared to 31 per cent of last borns.

Younger siblings, on the other hand, are more likely to say they are more funny (46 per cent compared to 36 per cent of elder siblings), more easy going and more relaxed.

Now if you’ll excuse me I’m going to call my sister before she reads this…
