The World Will End On This Date, Speculate Scientists

Scientists have predicted when the world will end and it is scarily a lot sooner than we thought…

It seems how, why and when the world will end has been discussed so much in the media, it’s almost a commonplace conversation these days.

However, the fact well thought of scientists are coming out of the woodwork – and not just Baba Vanga – makes their doomsday predictions all the more scarier.

Stephen Hawking is certainly a science force to be reckoned with, so it’s pretty worrying he’s come out and given a time frame for the Earth’s expiry and it’s not looking great.

It was only last November Professor Stephen Hawking claimed the Earth had 1,000 years left on its lifetime, but now he appears to have changed his mind, drastically reducing the Earth’s years of life left in the process.

In March 2017, the professor spoke out once again on his views on when he thought the Earth would cease to exist and horrendously he knocked a crazy 900 years off.

This takes the Earth’s lifespan down to 100 years from now, meaning in the professor is right, the world will effectively come to an end in 2117.

Disturbingly – or perhaps obviously – the professor gives climate change as the main reason behind the Earth’s plummeting years.

On top of that, he also references the planet’s ever-increasing population and issues with overcrowding, contamination of oceans and the world’s water resources, as well as our potential impending resistance to antibiotics, putting as at risk of global pandemics of deadly viruses.

It’s not all doom and gloom though as the professor told The Guardian, he has high hopes for artificial intelligence, increased technology and automation, resulting in economic equality which are meant to be our saviours.

He said:

We now have the technology to destroy the planet on which we live, but have not yet developed the ability to escape it.

Just to take it back a little, the all-important issue of global climate change has faced setbacks after America under President Trump’s rule have turned their face against the mounting problem.

The UK isn’t exactly helping either, with Brexit negotiations threatening the development of vital climate change research which is much needed right now, especially if Hawking’s warnings are anything to go by.

Even more disconcertingly, Hawking is not alone in his depressing predictions, as apparently after Trump’s election last year, the Bulletin of Atomic Scientists moved the minute hand on the Doomsday Clock 30 seconds closer to midnight.

This foreboding sounding clock has been set by scientists based on the levels of environmental damage and the likelihood of nuclear weaponry being discharged and it seems under Trump’s control, the risk factor have increased somewhat.

I had a lot of faith in Stephen Hawking to reassure us all and tell us all it’s going to be OK. Now he’s take that away and diminished the Earth’s life down to a mere three figure number, I feel hugely worried.

All we can hope now is that the development of robots will save us all…
