In news that absolutely none of us will fucking notice, this year is set to include one more second than it’s predecessors. Yep, another lousy second.

The extra second is the end result of a ‘leap second’ occurring in 2016, which is introduced to keep atomic clocks aligned with the Earth’s rotation. Oh yeah – that.

According to Buzzfeed, the group which is in charge of global timekeeping, the International Earth Rotation and Reference Systems Service, made the revelation that 2016 will end at 23:59:60, as opposed to the typical 23:59:59. Mind = blown.

But what are you going to do with your leap second?

Here’s a list of things you could do with your leap second.

Crack your knuckles.

Stretch.

Yawn.

Say hello to a random person in the street and make it your life goal to find them in the next leap second so you can say goodbye.

Like a picture on Instagram.

Blink for slightly longer than usual.

Inhale a nice breath.

Itch.

Or you could do what I’m going to do with mine and do absolutely nothing and not even realise an extra dull second has passed?

Yep thought so.
