We’ve all been there. Slumped in your seat or passed out somewhere, you’re unable to comprehend what’s going on and you can only wonder how your life led to this God awful moment.

You might be thinking ‘why me?’ Well, it turns out there are a load of reasons why you could be such a lightweight.

According to the BBC, it’s mainly down to your health, how often you drink and, sadly, something you can’t control – your underlying biological traits.

If you’re a woman, you’re more likely to feel the effects of alcohol than if you’re a man. This is purely down to the fact that on average women are smaller than men and have a higher percentage of body fat.

Because this booze isn’t absorbed well into the fatty tissue, it builds up in the blood with stronger effects.

Older people also struggle to handle their liquor more than younger people, as they tend to have less water in their bodies. This means that alcohol builds up to a higher, more potent concentration. Your cells also become more sensitive, so organs like your brain will feel the effects a lot quicker.

If you’re a bit bigger than your mates, you might find you can drink more than your smaller friends before feeling even slightly drunk. They tend to have more blood in their body, so alcohol becomes more diluted and doesn’t affect a larger person anywhere near as much as in a smaller body.

If you’re of a smaller frame, you get more alcohol in your bloodstream, your body breaks it down a lot slower and your body reaches a limit that it can no longer handle. And you end up like this…

So, there you have it. Don’t say we didn’t warn you when you’re the one who overdid it again…
