Well, the world has apparently ended about 15 times since then, as a result of all-manner of things. Most notable of these apocalyptic catalysts is Nibiru, aka Planet X, the planet hurtling through space straight for Earth.
The mysterious planet, which somehow still can’t be seen, is apparently heading straight for our pale blue dot, which will bring with it disastrous consequences.

NASA has already unequivocally said there is definitely no Nibiru, so that should really be all there is to it, but we live in a (spherical) world full of conspiracy theorists, so thankfully, IFL Science! have laid out everything to make sure you understand that fact.
First of all, scientists are fairly certain there isn’t a Nibiru because they’ve gotten pretty damn good at detecting planets even millions of light years away.
20th Century FoxThey don’t actually see them with telescopes as such, but they indirectly infer their existence because we can witness the effects they have on spacetime. For example, the refraction of light from a particular star in a certain direction tells us a planet’s orbit crosses in front of that star from our perspective.
And believe it or not, with all these incredibly accurate measuring tools, we haven’t detected a planet heading straight for us.
But there are some theorists who suggest there is actually a planet hiding on the outskirts of our very own solar system, called Planet Nine.
Max PixelNo, it’s not Pluto, that’s a dwarf planet – and so is Eris – this thing is apparently another planet which has been inferred to exist because of a bunch of comets have been behaving strangely further afield than Pluto.
Some people believe this strange behaviour points to the evidence of a planet, one we’ve not detected because the orbit around the sun takes about 10-20,000 years.
Of course, the difficulty with inferring this planet (as with other planets) is that they are so far away, and they’re not heading straight for us.
NASA/SOFIA/Lynette CookThe stuff that is heading our way, we know about. Think about all those asteroids, comets and other things flying past us, surprisingly enough, NASA know about every single one of them.
The fact of the matter is that if there was a huge planet heading straight for Earth, scientists would absolutely have been able to see it decades ago.
NASA even released this statement on the matter in 2012:
If Nibiru or Planet X were real and headed for an encounter with Earth… astronomers would have been tracking it for at least the past decade, and it would be visible by now to the naked eye.
PexelsIf all this isn’t enough to convince you Nibiru doesn’t exist, then IFL Science! has one more bit of info: the person who came up with Planet X is Nancy Lieder. Nancy also claims she has the ability to communicate with aliens via a neurological implant.
She also claims the Hale-Bopp comet, one of the most well documented astrological events ever, is a hoax.
Of course, even if Nibiru is real and it’s heading for us, chances of it hitting us are pretty damn slim anyway since we’re a flat Earth, so there’s that.
