It’s been a long time coming but the Arctic Monkeys have finally announced they are recording a new album.

Bassist Bick O’Malley confirmed the news that the lads began recording their eagerly-awaited new album this month.

He also revealed when fans should expect it to be released.

Before this, Arctic Monkeys‘ drummer Matt Helders recently told a fan that new material would be coming out later this year.

O’Malley however said the album will come out in 2018.

He said, ‘If it isn’t, we’ve got problems.’

Their fifth and latest studio album AM came out in 2013 to critical acclaim.

It was nominated for the Mercury Prize, hailed the Best Album of 2013 by the NME.

Commercially it was one of the Sheffield band’s most successful releases to date, topping the charts in several countries.

With it, they broke a record becoming the first independent-label band to debut at number one in the UK with their first five albums.

We’re massively excited for what’s next in store.
