Ariana Grande’s long anticipated video for Thank U, Next has surpassed all expectations and records.

The masterpiece, which is awash with charming noughties nostalgia, is the ultimate middle finger to all of the singer’s exes, especially now it has broken a record for Youtube Premieres.

The video, that beautifully channeled Mean Girls, 13 Going on 30Bring It On, and Legally Blonde, peaked at around 829,000 viewers watching simultaneously, with over 516,000 messages posted in the discussion sidebar, another all-time record for Premieres on YouTube, the company said.

YouTube Premieres allows viewers and artists to experience the premiere of a video together and engage in a conversation about it.

At the time of writing, her video at nearly 35.5 million views on YouTube, with many hailing it the best music video of the year.

Team Youtube also posted on Twitter saying:

@ArianaGrande the thank u, next video was so good, it broke the internet (or at least delayed YouTube comments from posting for a bit).

Comments are still working on the video, they’re just delayed!

Not only did Ari perfectly embody Regina George and Jenna Rink, but she brought some faces to the video that we haven’t seen for a long time, including Aaron Samuels (real name Jonathan Bennett) and the amazing Stefanie Drummond (with the wide-set vagina) from Mean Girls.

As well as including well-known faces from our favourite teen films, there were a few other famous faces like Troye Sivan, Elizabeth Gillies, and legend Jennifer Coolidge who made it into the music video.

Ariana’s Victorious co-star Gillies played Regina’s Cady Heron and looked remarkably like Lindsey Lohan.

It wasn’t just Ariana fans who approved of her nostalgic video, Jennifer Garner from 13 Going On 30 commented saying ‘ Ariana Grande looks more like Jenna Rink than I ever did’.

Jennifer Garner’s 2004 co-star Mark Ruffalo also showed his appreciation for Ariana’s video, saying:

Having some Razzles (it’s a candy AND a gum) in your honor, @ArianaGrande! #thankunext

Ariana was so happy, all she could reply was ‘*sobs uncontrollably*’.

We also got an insight in Ariana’s very own Burn Book, filled with photos of her exes and sharp-tongued comments.

There are pages for each of Grande’s ex-boyfriends including Big Sean, Ricky Alvarez, and Pete Davidson (Davidson’s page reads ‘sorry I dipped, I love u always’).

Naturally there was no reference to the late Mac Miller, who she dated for nearly two years, presumably as a sign of a respect.

There are a number of hidden nods to her and Pete Davidson’s relationship. She hints at their matching ‘H2GKMO’ tattoos when YouTuber Gabi DeMartino says, ‘Ariana says “Honest to God, Knock Me Out,” so I decided to punch myself in the face. It was awesome.’

The best surprise of the whole video had to be Kris Jenner playing Ariana’s ‘cool mum’ at the Christmas dance, complete with velour tracksuit and handheld video camera.

This video has made me want to make a mixtape for myself. What an inspiration promoting self love over everything else.

I also hope Ariana has brought ‘the bend and snap’ back.
