Jurgen Klopp’s return to Dortmund went better than expected, as Liverpool claimed a 1-1 draw in Germany.
Much of the build up to the match was centred around the return to the Signal Iduna Park of Klopp, and perhaps it was fitting that neither side claimed the win as it ended 1-1.
Divock Origi put the English side ahead, before Mats Hummels buried a header past Simon Mignolet to level things up, ensuring the Scousers did a whole lot better than Spurs did a few weeks back.
Here’s the best of the reaction from Twitter:
The joint singing of ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’ got many people emotional:
That old man with tears in his eyes set me off then, amazing, doesn’t happen often where the whole stadium sings it too. #YNWA

Meanwhile, the famous ‘Yellow Wall’ was in fine form…we think:
Great to see 'The Wall' showing some love for a Liverpool great… #BVBLFC pic.twitter.com/sHy4PtoUer

Some were getting brave with their predictions:
Bollocks to all that now, 5-0 Joe Allen all 5, Mignolet saves 8 pennos #LFC #YNWA

On the pitch, Mamadou Sakho had an impressive first half:

And some were dreaming about what could be this summer:
Looking at Reus makes me imagine him with Liverpool kit. #LFC #YNWA

Joe Allen was introduced, sending Twitter into a mini frenzy:
Joe Allen making the difference here. The way he covers ground and actually holds onto the ball is so undervalued.

But some were focusing on taking the piss out of Michael Owen’s commentary…naturally:
Who's this Oobegamang fella who Michael Owen keeps telling me is playing up front for Dortmund?
— Andy Craig (@Andy_Craig) April 7, 2016
Hummels soon equalised though, and the plaudits followed:
Hummels is taking the piss at this stage

No one looked likely to get a winner, driving some to look to other means of entertainment:
A 17 year old from Pennsylvania just got subbed on for borussia Dortmund… And I'm waiting for the game to be over to rub one out…?
— Erik Ramirez (@erikramirez818) April 7, 2016
Whether he waited or not, he didn’t miss much else as it ended level, leaving Liverpool right in it going into the second leg.
