Arsenal v Liverpool was clearly the game of the weekend.
A clash between two title contenders, and on the opening weekend as well. Mouthwatering stuff.
After Arsenal took the lead following some vintage Alberto Moreno defending, Liverpool fans started to worry – but they need not have bothered.
The Gunners were leading 1-0, and then came Coutinho, Lallana, Coutinho again and Mane, before Arsenal got two goals back and pushed the Reds all the way for the three points, to no avail.
The internet loved it:
Moreno was not a popular guy:

Gary Neville: "You might as well start the game a goal down with Moreno at left back." pic.twitter.com/Goi0IJZQUY

Walcott meanwhile atoned for his errors:
Arsenal fans, you do realise with every goal that Theo Walcott scores, Arsène Wenger won’t see the need for a new striker. Fun and games!

Now that is how you bounce back from missing a penalty. Walcott with a tidy finish.

Look forward to Arsene Wenger using that Walcott goal as a reason why Arsenal don't need to buy a striker

Coutinho > Life itself:

I love how valued and appreciated Coutinho is at Liverpool. Way better than being a bench player at a club able to currently win more cups.

Wenger Out:
Can't wait for Wenger to come out and say "Judge me in 2020."

Arsene Wenger is receiving abuse from Arsenal fans near the dug-out. Stewards now getting involved. [@OliverKayTimes] #afc

It ended goals, goals, goals
0 – Number of Premier League defenders who bothered to turn up for pre-season training. Leaky.
