Poor old Arsene Wenger.

He’s like a dog chasing a moving car this transfer window, as he tries to sign a new striker before the new Premier League season begins.

But no one wants to play for Arsenal.

Moves for Jamie Vardy, Gonzalo Higuain, Karim Benzema and Alexandre Lacazette have all failed to materialise, and their latest target has now binned them off as well.

Mauro Icardi was close to leaving Inter Milan this summer, and rumours that he was closing in on a move to the Premier League gathered pace when his wife and agent rocked up in London.

Finally the Gunners were getting close, but one tweet has seemingly put an end to the speculation.

In case your Italian is as good as Yaya Sanogo’s finishing, ‘amala’ translates as ‘love her’, and the picture is of Icardi doing his thing in an Inter shirt.

#MI9 stands for Mauro Icardi and his shirt number, as it usually does these days, thanks to Cristiano Ronaldo’s ‘CR7’ moniker taking off.

So, unless Icardi is stating his love for himself, that’s another transfer blow for Arsene Wenger.
