Arsenal’s Champions League campaign came to a rather predictable end at the Camp Nou tonight, and it’s safe to say social media wasn’t exactly apologetic.
A first half goal from Neymar ensured it was virtually mission impossible for the Gunners, and further goals from Luis Suarez and Lionel Messi killed off Arsene Wenger’s side.
Mohamed Elneny did get one back to make it 1-1 on the night, but Barcelona were far too good for the English side once again.
Here’s the best of the reaction:
Barcelona started with their typical swagger, and it pissed Piers Morgan off:
Barcelona's training sessions are harder than this for them. #FCBvAFC

The Spanish giants soon pulled the Gunners apart, but Lionel Messi couldn’t finish off an excellent move:
Messi’s touch is pure filth

Neymar soon opened the scoring for Barca, prompting this guy to break out the cliche collection:
I missed the goal in #FCBvAFC … Did the commentator say "Mountain to climb" yet?

Meanwhile, the Arsenal fans couldn’t resist a dig:
Beautiful football. Messi, Suarez and Neymar are amazing to watch. Worth every penny of money laundering and tax evasion. #FCBvAFC

Whereas some were being more realistic:
If we could finish and defend… We'd be dynamite!! #FCBvAFC

But there was some good news for Arsenal fans:
Bellerin confirmed faster than Alba #FCBvAFC

Arsene had a plan though:
Arsene Wenger turns to his bench, sees Theo Walcott, and then shouts for Gunnersaurus to get warmed up.

But it never worked, and Luis Suarez added a stunning second to kill off the Gunners:
What a player Luis Suarez is
One of my finest creations

Co-commentator Steve McManaman wasn’t getting too many plaudits on social media:
Some finish that – absolute cheek of Mcmanaman saying he shanked it #FCBvAFC
— Tom Williams (@MrTomWilliams) March 16, 2016
Barcelona easily hung on, leaving this 140 character beauty as the perfect way to sum things up for Arsenal:
Gotta hand it to Wenger, he got us out of that tricky CL group in second place #FCBvAFC

Never mind Arsenal, at least you can concentrate on securing fourth place now.
