Those of you who are in need of inspiration on how to make a grand entrance will be able to take note from a BASE jumper who parachuted into a pool party from the world famous Kuala Lumpur Tower.
Footage of the jump was filmed from the headset of BASE Jumper, and adrenaline junkie, John Van Horne who pulled off the stunt along with his buddies Matt Frohlich and Andy Lewis.

Van Horne, Frohlich and Lewis are constantly looking for exciting new jump sites and on October 2014 they found the mother of all sites in the Kuala Lumpur Tower. The six-floor tourist attraction stands at a mammoth 421 meters, officially making it the seventh tallest building in the world. You couldn’t pay me to jump off of that structure – tell a lie, my starting price would be £1 million.
But Van Horne and co. don’t need any motivation, the rush is all the incentive they need. They’ll find the perfect height and let gravity do the rest, the definition of no fear. For those of you who want to experience the rush of BASE Jumping off the Kuala Lumpur Tower, but lack the heart (or the finances) Van Horne allows you to experience it vicariously through him.
The jump from the Tower to the adjacent pool party is proper heart-in-your-mouth stuff which appears to go down well with those in attendance.
ViraalHogBASE Jumping (or B.A.S.E Jumping) is an extreme activity which involves parachuting or wingsuit flying from a fixed structure or cliff. ‘BASE’ is short for the four categories of fixed objects from which one can jump from: building, antenna, span, and earth (cliff).
Because of the low altitudes involved in BASE jumping the activity is significantly more dangerous compared to skydiving. In the United States of America, BASE Jumping is regarded as a fringe extreme sport or stunt, with some states making it illegal. But some places, such as Perrine Bridge in Twin Falls, Idaho, have permitted the activity.
It gained more coverage thanks to a number of action movies and the 2014 documentary Sunshine Superman.
While BASE Jumping is an activity you shouldn’t take lightly, it doesn’t stop some enthusiasts from using it as a means to pull off some wicked pranks.
Check the scenario (word to A Tribe Called Quest): You’re standing on the precipice of a 365m high platform, preparing to fling yourself into the abyss… all in the name of a BASE Jump prank.
You’re up there on the ropey looking chair but you’re with your mate. You’re a pro. You’re feeling the adrenaline course through your veins. Your buddy is gearing up for his jump. Off he goes.
Then this happens:
You look down and realise he’s only gone and ‘pantsed’ you right there at 1,200 feet in the air.
