Wrestling legend Bret ‘The Hitman’ Hart has revealed he has prostate cancer in an emotional Facebook message to his fans.
On his Facebook page yesterday, Hart, 58, revealed that he is battling prostate cancer and defiantly said he will undergo surgery in the coming days ‘with the hope of defeating this nemesis once and for all’.
In the moving post he wrote:
It is with great remorse that I feel compelled to speak truthfully to my friends, family and my millions of fans around the world.
…With hesitation and fear, I openly declare myself in my fight against prostate cancer.
It is with great remorse that I feel compelled to speak truthfully to my friends, family and my millions of fans around…

Hart also said he’s been inspired in his fight against prostate cancer by a brave young man named Whesley, who fought brain cancer to the end before succumbing to the illness last year.
Praising Whesley for his bravery, Hart added:
If I can find even an ounce of his courage to stand unafraid and face the tough road ahead of me, I will march toward this destiny with his spirit chanting in my ear.
Hart ended the message by saying that he wants to be a leader in awareness of prostate cancer worldwide and to set an example for men who find themselves in the same shoes.
Hart is a five time WWF/WWE World Heavyweight Champion and is widely regarded as one of the greatest wrestlers ever, being an iconic figure of the sport throughout the 1980s and ’90s. He has remained active in the sport in the years since retiring.
If Hart’s wrestling record is anything to go by then cancer has a hell of a fight on its hands. Make cancer tap, Bret.
