Brock Lesnar and Randy Orton’s match at WWE SummerSlam in Brooklyn has been long-awaited – but no one was expecting it to end the way it did.
WWE’s SummerSlam ended after Orton suffered a very gruesome gash on his forehead after getting repeatedly elbowed by Lesnar.
Here’s what happened:
I don’t think anybody called that ending.
Now I can’t say this wasn’t scripted (even though it probably wasn’t), but I’m pretty sure that’s a real cut and those were real elbows.
Even after the injury was caused, the Beast Incarnate continued clubbing blows to Orton’s skull, leaving the 12-time world champion covered in blood and officials awarding Lesnar with a dominating victory, according to Sky Sports.
WWE has since released a statement on their website saying the brutal injury has left Orton with 10 stitches.
Their statement read:
WWE.com has learned that Randy Orton has received 10 staples to close a laceration on his forehead following the brutal assault by Brock Lesnar that resulted in a TKO at SummerSlam.
So while it’s difficult to figure out where this leaves Orton and Lesnar in WWE, Lesnar leaves SummerSlam once again looking like a totally vicious force of nature.
