GettyJust a matter of weeks after McGregor’s historic win over Eddie Alvarez the Irishman could soon be waving goodbye to one of his UFC title belts.
Two weeks ago the Notorious became the first two-division champion in UFC history after quite simply obliterating Alvarez, knocking him down three times in the first round, before claiming the Lightweight title for good.
However it is not the Lightweight title that is causing him concern right about now but the Featherweight belt which he hasn’t defended in over 11 months, reports the Daily Mail.
GettyFollowing his explosive win over Alvarez, McGregor told reporters and fans alike that he wasn’t interested in fighting until the birth of his child – which is expected in May, meaning that by then he would not have defended his featherweight title in over 17 months…
McGregor has been warned countless times by the UFC that if he doesn’t shed a few pounds and defend his title it will be stripped from him and handed back to Jose Aldo who Conor demolished in just 13 seconds last December.
But the Dub isn’t backing down, telling journalists: ‘They’re gonna have to gather an army to try and take one of them off of me’.
He added:
One’s gonna be there and one’s gonna be there, and I’m gonna be picking and choosing who I wanna destroy next.
No matter happens I think one thing’s for certain. Conor McGregor won’t be going anywhere…
