Some 800,000 people tuned in to watch Conor McGregor and Floyd Mayweather’s firsts press conference in Los Angeles on Tuesday night.
The pair finally got together at the Staples Center in California to start their world tour of verbal sparring, and it got off to the explosive start we all expected.
‘Money’ Mayweather made headway first, tearing into ‘The Notorious’ who twice promised the American boxing champ, ‘I’ll bounce your head off the canvas!’
Following the press conference, McGregor recounted the idle chit-chat saying:
He was trying to say something about the [10 oz.] gloves and I was like ‘You cried about the gloves’. He cried about the ounces of the gloves. Then he tried to say ‘MMA next, we’ll do’.
I was like [wags his finger] ‘You’re talking shit about stuff that you won’t do’. Other than that it was just back-and-forth. The usual shite.
By the sounds of it, even McGregor himself is bored of the ‘usual shite’; the slightly homo-erotic back-and-forth and show-boating the Octagon and ring athletes are expected to perform in the lead up to the real showdown of sporting prowess.

Just imagine how intense it’ll be when the pair are sparring with their fists and not their words… It’s like an insight into Dana White’s wildest wet dreams.
After endless negotiations, the date is set for August 26 with Mayweather Promotions having reportedly booked the 20,000 capacity T-Mobile Arena.
