Conor McGregor will fight Nate Diaz at UFC 200 on July 9.
Or that is what the UFC featherweight champion is telling fans on Twitter at least.
In the early hours of Monday morning The ‘Notorious’ made the announcement, and even thanked the promotion’s president Dana White, and CEO Lorenzo Fertitta.
As reported by MMA Fighting, the UFC have yet to respond to requests to comment on McGregor’s reinstatement to the card at 200.
McGregor had taken a stand on social media, stating he was ‘retiring young’, which led to the UFC dropping him from their bicentennial show, and threatening to strip him of his featherweight belt.
McGregor went on to explain he never wanted to retire, only to focus on his training camp ahead of taking on Diaz once more.
Diaz responded in turn saying he was only interested in taking on ‘Mystic Mac’ in July…
In the end it would appear a combination of pressure from both fighters has paid off.
That is not to mention the fans who let Dana White know how unpopular the decision to remove the welterweight rematch from the card was.
While official confirmation is yet to surface, McGregor has picked his words carefully on social media of late.
It would be hard to believe there weren’t legs to this latest announcement as a result.
So, is the keyboard war finally over?
