PAConor McGregor is kicking up a stink in the boxing world… Again.
This time, he wasn’t even in the ring, but, let’s be honest, The Notorious is right to be pissed after the Gennady Golovkin and Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez fight on Saturday night at the T-Mobile Arena.
The scoring was suitably shocking, with the Irish UFC champ weighing in on Twitter:

Okay, okay, so his wasn’t the most eloquent response to the suspect scoring which saw most side with Golovkin – who was given a 115-113 victory by one judge.
While most of us, who suspected McGregor and Mayweather’s relationship had been harbouring homoerotic undertones, feel validated, there’s a much, much bigger issue here.
The bout ended with scorecards of 118-110 to the Mexican, 115-113 to the Kazakh and 114-114, despite the stand-off being so evenly matched.
PAHowever, it was Adalaide Byrd who saw a dominant 118-110 win in Alvarez’s favour and prompted shocked gasps in the arena.
Golovkin and Alvarez are two of modern boxing’s greats and the fight was supposed to pull the sport out of the depths of showboating to which it has sunk since McGregor and Mayweather began their public pissing contest.

So, rather than bring boxing back into its golden age, Golovkin and Alvarez has gone some way to prove the detractors right.
Meanwhile talk of a rematch – a no doubt lucrative event for the host city of Las Vegas – is already underway.
Golovkin and Alvarez deserved so much better than this result.
