Controversial former basketball star Dennis Rodman has opened up about his bizarre BFF Kim Jong-Un saying he’s just an ordinary guy.

Rodman and Kim bonded over basketball after Dennis took a trip out to North Korea with Vice Media in 2013 and he’s made several visits to the infamously aggressive nation since.

And while the majority of the world see Kim as a war monger, with the power to potentially doom us all, Rodman has defended his friend claiming ‘he’s just like anybody else’ and doesn’t want to bomb anyone.

Dennis has even revealed why Kim’s so desperate to get his hands on a nuclear weapon and it’s got nothing to do with wanting to wipe out the U.S. The Daily Star reports.

He said:

He’s saying the reason why they have the nuclear bombs is because they know that Americans think they can take over.

He says, ‘I don’t want to bomb anyone. But we keep our nuclear weapons because we’re such a small country. That’s the only way we can defend ourselves.’

They just want people in America and the government to know they don’t hate Americans. They want to work with Americans.

Of course Kim’s propaganda videos, which frequently show American cities being wiped out in white hot nuclear fire, would indicate the dictator does have ambitions beyond defending his country.

For his part Rodman hopes that Kim’s love of basketball can bring the U.S. and North Korea together through what he calls ‘hoops diplomacy’.

It may sound stupid but it’s stupid times to be honest and Rodman is apparently friends with U.S. president Donald Trump who only last week said he’d meet Kim ‘under the right circumstances’.

Maybe the two will play a quick game of basketball?
