The Patriot’s turnaround wasn’t the only surprise at the Super Bowl, as one lucky fan happily discovered.
John Goehrke, a Patriots fan and one of Eugenie Bouchard’s thousands of Twitter followers, bet the professional Canadian tennis player the Pats would win.
The prize? A date with Bouchard herself.

The moment Tom Brady scored the winning touch down, the gambling pair’s Twitter conversation immediately went viral – and 22-year-old Eugenie stuck to her word.
Eugenie, who is currently ranked 47th in the world, and John spent a ‘romantic’ evening together.
They were hounded by the press as they watched the Nets take on the Milwaukee Bucks at New York’s Barclay Centre.
The date was penned around Eugenie’s busy schedule; she was in NYC for commitments related to her recent Sports Illustrated pictorial.
Bouchard, true to form, shared precious little moments from her so-called Super Bowl date on social media.
In one post, a bored and overwhelmed looking Goehrke claimed it was ‘the best date ever’ with what cynics might call a hint of dry sarcasm.
However, Eugenie seemed pleasantly surprised to have enjoyed John’s company, telling TMZ she was relieved to find he was ‘normal’.
Asked by the TMZ reporter whether there would be a second date, Eugenie even responded, ‘For sure!’
It would be cool if this pairing turned out to be a romance for the digital age, and Josh proved that so-called ‘normal’ guys are just as attractive as professional athletes.
However, reports link Bouchard to Canadian hockey player, Jordan Caron.
Whatever the result of their meeting, I guess it goes to show that gambling on love sometimes pays off.
