There was no love lost between Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor in the Las Vegas ring last night… or so you might’ve thought.
Money was made – still undefeated with an impressive 50 bout stretch after the ref called it in the tenth – and, inevitably, so were the memes.
The fight of titanic proportions has been played out over the past few months like a (slightly homoerotic) Hollywood movie:

So it’s only fitting Mac and Mayweather took their chance on the pay-per-view screen to replicate a little slice of romantic movie history.
One still has captured the hearts and imaginations of Boxing and UFC fans on Twitter – as well as a few of Leonardo Di Caprio – and the comparisons are hilarious.
Just check out those side-by-sides:
The tensions between the two professional athletes has been palpable for months, with both waging verbal warfare on each other.
Things reached a head when Twitter spotted Conor’s rousing appearance at the weigh-in which many felt indicated just how excited the Irish UFC champ was about the superfight.
So much so, this modern day prophet even predicted the throwback months ago:
Even 50 Cent got involved:
Although Mayweather has officially announced his retirement from professional boxing, there’s one thing for sure…
His heart will go on.
