Former WWE star and one half of ‘La Résistance’ René Duprée has sparked controversy following comments about the circumstances of Chris Benoit’s death.

Benoit was one of the most respected superstar’s on the WWE roster, but his wrestling legacy will forever be overshadowed after the Canadian murdered his wife and his seven-year-old son in June 2007.

Benoit committed suicide following the killings, and Duprée believes there could be more to the story after revealing another wrestler was found dead on the same day.

As reported by the Daily Star, Duprée was speaking with Hannibal TV when he highlighted the body of Benoit’s former tag-team partner Biff Wellington was discovered on the same day.

Duprée said:

I’d like to talk about one thing that nobody talks about. There was another body found that day, another wrester died that day that nobody talks about and he was kin to Chris.

His name was Biff Wellington. We all know that there were text messages between different wrestlers and Chris, right?

I would like to know if there was any communication between Biff Wellington and Chris.

Cause that’s an eerie coincidence to me.

Duprée raises a valid concern, but his thoughts can only be treated as conjecture at this stage.

His comments do add to the intrigue surrounding the upcoming Benoit biopic film ‘Crossface’ -named after his infamous finishing move- which is set to be directed by Lexi Alexander.

She told IGN:

A heartbreaking, true story about the dark side of wrestling. I couldn’t say no to that.

It will certainly be interesting to see how the film covers the issue.
