According to Forbes magazine if the pay-per-view subscriptions for the fight hit their expected total of five million bookings then Mayweather cut will see him pass the billion dollar mark.
Only the iconic athletes Michael Jordan ($1.5 billion) and Tiger Woods ($1.4 billion) have ever earned this amount before and Mayweather will be the first boxer to ever accomplish the feat.
PAMayweather’s path to a billion dollars was paved a long time ago, back in 2006 when he paid his then manager Bob Arum $750,000 releasing him from his Top Rank contract.
Floyd then started his own promotion company and transformed himself into Money Mayweather, the ultimate showman who wasn’t afraid to exploit social media and television to promote himself.
Since splitting from Arum Mayweather’s paychecks have skyrocketed, earning an eye-watering $25 million for his win over Oscar De La Hoya in 2007, and with no middle man all that money’s going straight into Floyd’s pocket.

It was Mayweather’s decision to split from HBO and sign a pay-per-view deal with Showtime that saw him become one of the wealthiest athletes ever, taking home $450 million over two-and-a-half years.
