Reports have been floating around all day from various unnamed sources claiming Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor have finally sorted out a deal to fight.

Over the past year the fight has been on and off and on and off and on again enough times for fans to be at the point where until there is official confirmation, we should probably all just chill out a bit.

However, for whatever reason, earlier today quotes from an unnamed insider seemed to get people all excited again.

The source said:

Conor McGregor and Floyd Mayweather have agreed a deal to fight and have both settled on their respective fees.

The contract hasn’t officially been signed yet because of a third party hold-up but all the details have all been agreed on.

The fight could even be announced within two weeks.

Those quotes coupled with the fact McGregor had to cancel a Q&A at a hotel to be in Las Vegas for urgent business meant people put two and two together to make 14.

And the reason I can say that with such confidence is that Floyd ‘Money’ Mayweather himself has decided to address the rumours on Twitter.

Not long ago he posted the following message to fight fans the world over:

So there you have it. Mayweather will be the one to announce when and where and if this fight is going to happen.

In the mean time he is going to be chilling out enjoying his retirement as any champion of his calibre should be allowed to do.

That’s not to say I wouldn’t mind seeing these two in a boxing ring some day, I’m just not going to hold my breath until it happens, that’s all.
