By many football is referred to as the ‘beautiful game’, but in reality it can be anything but.
It’s not only a global, multi-billion pound industry littered with high-spread corruption from the top down, but it’s still in the dark ages in tackling homophobia, sexism and racism on the pitch and on the terraces as well.

So when one supporter tweeted something incredibly sexist to his club, you’d probably assume at best they would be ignored, but oh no.
Hartlepool F.C. may be struggling to stay in the football league pyramid, but their Twitter game is Premier League.
The horrible request was made on Twitter yesterday evening, although the caveman responsible has since deleted it…
We won’t even go into his incorrect use of ‘there’, but anyway, the club responded in the best way possible:
We could bar sexists instead if you like? https://t.co/qXzejXYaBD

And fans were quick to applaud the club:

Oh, and condemn the man’s sexist request of course:

He’s even had the audacity to since ask for a role in their social media team:

Cue yet another brilliant response:

Sexism has absolutely no place in football and in all honesty not many people wouldn’t lose sleep over this guy instead being barred from his clubs’ player lounge.
Well played Hartlepool F.C., we salute you!
