Former MotoGP World Champion Nicky Hayden Dies After Crash

Former MotoGP world champion Nicky Hayden has sadly passed away five days after he was hit by a car during training.

The 35-year-old American collided with a car while cycling on the Rimini coastline in Italy last Wednesday.

Hayden suffered “serious cerebral damage” from the accident and was placed in a medically induced coma after being rushed to the Maurizio Bufalini Hospital.

His family, including his mother and fiancee, flew out immediately to be by his side.

The hospital have since confirmed that the former world champion has passed away from his injuries.

Hayden was the man responsible for ending Valentino Rossi’s five-year dominance of MotoGP in 2006 in what was described as “the most entertaining season ever seen”.
