Former Premier League Footballer Killed By UK Police

Former Premier League striker Dalian Atkinson has died, after being tasered by police.

The 48-year-old is said to have gone into cardiac arrest after being stunned with the taser, after police were called to a disturbance in the early hours of this morning.

According to The Sun Police were called to a home in Telford, after receiving reports that people were concerned for the safety of a person.

Atkinson received medical treatment after going into cardiac arrest around 1.30am this morning, but died around 3am.

The incident has been referred to the Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC).

Atkinson is best remembered for his spell with Aston Villa, where he scored 23 goals in 85 league games, and also had a spell at Manchester City in 1997.

He retired in 2001, and scored more than 75 goals throughout his career, also enjoying spells in Spain, Turkey and Japan.
