It’s common knowledge that Chelsea are chasing a new striker this summer.

Diego Costa is being linked with a move back to Atletico Madrid, and the Blues have already captured Michy Batshuayi to boost their options.

But a surprising name has claimed that Antonio Conte’s side is after him, and it’s not one you would think of immediately.

Carlos Tevez, who left Juventus for Boca Juniors last summer and claimed he would never return to Europe, has come out of the woodwork to insist that Conte wants him at Stamford Bridge.

The pair worked together while at Juventus, and Tevez has had spells in the Premier League with West Ham United, Manchester City and Manchester United, scoring 84 league goals along the way.

According to the Argentine striker, Conte is seeking a reunion, and Napoli are also interested in his services.

Speaking to Corriere dello Sport, Tevez said:

I’m fine at Boca.

Indeed my idea, my dream is to finish my career as a player in this wonderful club.

Europe? Yes, it’s true Napoli and Chelsea seek me, but I repeat what I said before. My desire is to stay at Boca until I retire.

The 32-year-old won the Argentine and Italian league and cup doubles in 2015, becoming the first player to do so, and doesn’t seem tempted by a return to Europe.

His time in England was littered with controversy, after arriving at West Ham amid speculation of third party ownership with Kia Joorabchian involved.

He became a Hammers legend as he scored the goals to keep them up, sending Sheffield United down at their expense – and their fans are still pissed off to this day.

So, Tevez’s comments will go down well in south Yorkshire, if not in west London.
