Many people jokingly make bets about what they’re going to name their future kids.

Mostly they’re done in jest, like making a top bants bet with your bestie in which you promise they can name your kid whatever they want but only if they can beat your at pool with one hand tied behind their back… or something.

Often these bets are made around sporting events – people can get so worked up about the big game or tournament they say and do some extreme things in the heat of the moment.

For many people though, making these bets don’t really mean much, because they know whatever they’re betting for – the rights to name a child, for example – is so far off in the distance that it’ll get forgotten about. And they wouldn’t really go through with it, right?

Well, for 25-year-old Trey Little, the recent Masters tournament was a worth a bet. But instead of sticking a tenner down, Trey decided to bet his partner that, if Tiger Woods won, he could name their child Tiger.

According to the New York Post, the couple from Dallas were so excited by Woods’ remarkable comeback in the tournament they’d completely forgotten about their wager.

Trey said:

This whole thing started almost as a joke, then it turned into something really real, really quick.

On hole 18, we realized, ‘Wow, he’s really going to pull this thing off’.

Trey and his wife Denise are expecting a baby boy, due this September, and ever since the couple found out they were pregnant, Trey – a lifelong golf fanatic – has been pushing for the name Tiger.

As Trey said: ‘We both wanted a unique name, and I’ve always been a huge golf fan’.

So, he presented Denise with a contract saying: ‘If Tiger Woods wins the Masters this week, I (father) get to have the option of naming our son Tiger Little’.

As Trey noted before the tournament, it ‘would be the best comeback in the history of golf and arguably the history of modern sports’.

And, what would you know, Tiger only went and pulled it off, so it seems Trey and Denise have their name.

After the win, Trey said:

We went crazy, we were so happy. We were so emotional just watching him win — we would have had the same reaction even if our son’s name wasn’t involved!

Congrats to both Tigers.
