If people earning ludicrous sums of money for being able to kick a piece of plastic harder than the average person is the type of thing that get’s you hot and bothered then we’ve got some good news for you, The Sunday Times sport rich list has been released.

Lewis Hamilton maintains the top spot after another successful year driving a car fast but there are a few new faces on the list including Pep Guardiola and Zlatan Ibrahimovic who also bumps Wayne Rooney off the richest footballer top spot.

The Top 10

9= Luol Deng (£50m)

Luol Deng the Sudanese-British  Los Angeles Lakers basketball player completes the top 10 in joint ninth place with Guardiola after upping his fortune by £7 million.

Guardiola may have the edge over Mourinho on the football pitch but in terms of money he loses out massively to his rival.

8. Gareth Bale (£54m)

Mr Bale who specialises in kicking rubber into a net for Real Madrid managed earn £20 million this year upping his ludicrous wealth to £54 million.

7. Jose Mourinho (£61m)

Mourinho increased his earning’s by £11 million this year thanks to a cushy job at Manchester United and sponsorship deals with brands including Hublot watches, Heineken, BT Sport and Jaguar.

6. Sir Andy Murray (£77m)

Professional misery guts and tennis ace Andy Murray increased his wealth by £20 million, won Wimbledon and got a knighthood this past year, reports he smiled were rumoured but unconfirmed.

5. Rory McIlroy (£82m)

Rory, who’s probably in the top ten per cent of people who hit balls with metal clubs, upped his fortune by £26 million this year proving that the world really is an unfair place.

4. Jenson Button (£86m)

Racing driver Jenson Button managed to earn a whopping £9 million this year which is pretty impressive considering he no longer has a a permanent team we’re guessin he’s been moonlighting as an Uber driver and taken advantage of surge charges.

3. Wayne Rooney (£93m)

The first of two Manchester United stars on the list Wayne Rooney manages to maintain a spot on the rich list, despite being as useful on the football pitch as a particularity ornate trifle, increasing his personal wealth by £11 million.

Unfortunately for Rooney despite having wealth equivalent to some small nations he’s no longer the the richest footballer on the list.

2. Zlatan Ibrahimovic (£110m)

Bumping Rooney from the richest footballer spot Zlatan Ibrahimovic who’s earned eye-watering sums of money for over a decade at clubs including; Paris Saint-Germain, AC Milan, Barcelona, Inter Milan and Manchester United.

Despite currently being injured Zlatan earns £220,000 a week at United and has a cushy sponsorship deal with Nike, which seems unfair considering how long he’s spent on the bench.

Lewis Hamilton who to the best of my knowledge drives really, really fast like my sister when she’s late for work maintains the number one spot which considering he’s famous for coming first in things probably bodes well for his future career prospects.

The Mercedes Formula One driver, who is trying to win his fourth world championship this year, has earned a £131 million fortune increased his wealth by £25 million in the last 12 months.
