Look away now if you’re of a sensitive disposition, because this guy just took a hit for his whole team. And by team, I mean men everywhere.
During a hockey game between the Edmonton Oilers and the Dallas Stars on Thursday night, Oilers player Matt Hendricks was casually playing the game, his testicles minding their own business, when they were greeted full speed by a flying hockey puck.
The resulting blow was enough to bring Hendricks to his knees, causing the ref to stop the game. Even his opponent looked on with a grimace as he hobbled from the rink into the tunnel. Desperate stuff.
The only thing likely going through Matt’s mind was a small prayer that his protective cup had done the business. Did it? Well, take a look for yourself.
Id like to thank Bike & @RussellAthletic for saving my bacon tonight! #closecall pic.twitter.com/heGYVlQnqr

If you’re feeling brave, then the video below shows the incident in all its cringe-worthy glory.
Note to self – buy more cups.
