This footage shows the terrifying moment a champion skier survives a terrifying 1,000ft fall down a mountain.
According to The Sun, freeskiing world champion Angel Collinson was skiing down the Neacola range in Alaska, when she lost her footing and hurtled down the steep slope.
You can hear her struggling for breath throughout the clip as she tumbles head over heels, dangerously close to rocks and when she finally comes to a halt you can hear her say: “I’m OK. I’m OK.”
Somehow the 25-year-old miraculously escaped the death defying plunge with only two ‘jammed fingers’.
The clip was filmed last year but it has now been released as part of a safety campaign by Teton Gravity Research.
Talking about the horrific ordeal, Angel said:
The fall was absolutely terrifying without question. You have no idea what you are going to tumble over and there is basically nothing you can do but hang on.
This was definitely a learning experience for me. Maybe 99 times out of 100 you can ski through that terrain, but when it does go wrong it’s more high-consequence.
The student at the University of Utah added:
I felt it was pretty well within my abilities but then it got really shitty down the bottom and I lost control and tumbled for a bit.
I was worried about my neck, head and face so tried to cover them with my arms. I got really lucky. I jammed two fingers and that was it. I lost everything out of my pack, but other than that I was totally fine.
Sounds like she was incredibly lucky.
